ST LUKES CYCLEWAY
This project involved the realignment of the on and off ramp intersections at the St Lukes overpass bridge to facilitate an additional right turning lane onto the motorway. Additionally, several safety improvements were introduced for cyclists and pedestrians including speed tables, a new cycleway and intersection improvements at the Duncan Mclean Intersection.
NZTA sought Oxcon and CLL’s input for this high-profile, fast-tracked, and disruptive project undertaken at one of Auckland’s busiest motorway junctions. The works spanned NZTA, Auckland Transport and Auckland Council assets and detailed traffic management planning was required to facilitate 24 hour / 7 day working to enable $1.5M worth of streetscape and infrastructure works to be executed within a four week working window. The aggressive construction programme was required to minimise effects on NZTA customers and complete the works during a low traffic volume period.
